The Seraphine Muse Welcomes Brooke Watts DelVecchio Blogger and Moderator for the NTOFYA Goodreads Group

Hello Muses and Fallen Friends,

Today we continue with our ode to the fearless ladies behind one of goodreads' largest group dedicated to bringing you the best reviews about the fearless lives of today's youth, the Never Too Old For Young Adult gang. Today I have yet another multi-tasking woman who supports both indie and traditionally published author with a certain signature style that sets her apart.

You generally can spot her posts once you see these words somewhere in the comment section: EEP! EEK! and EEEEEP (emphasis on being super excited). Without further hesitation I'd like to introduce Brooke Watts DelVecchio, moderator of the Never Too Old For Young Adult Group.

Everybody please give our guest a huge round of EEEPS!!! LOL

My name is (Brooke DelVecchio). And I am a blogger!

My blog is called The Cover Contessa

Where were you born and where do you call home?
I was born in Brooklyn, NY. I currently live in North Eastern NJ (where I said I would NEVER live, because when you’re from Brooklyn you NEVER move to NJ! LOL!)

How long have you been blogging?
I’ve been blogging about six months.

What is the name of the book you most recently blogged about?
Seers (Seers #1) by Heather Frost

What did you think about the cover?
The cover is nice, although I don’t think it adequately captures the book, but that’s just my opinion.

If you could ask the Author 3 questions what would they be?

1. What was your inspiration for writing this story?

2. Do your characters talk to you and tell you what to write or do you come up with it on your own?

3. If you had a theme song for this book, what would it be?

Can you name one of your favorite chapters?
Chapter 31 because that’s where the first kiss takes place and it is just perfect. Also, it’s a light hearted chapter because much of the book you’re feeling the characters’ struggles and fear.

What was you most favorite character and why?
It’s a toss up between Toni and Patrick. Toni is so funny. I laugh at everything he says. But Patrick is RAWR sexy and just so sweet and loveable. And he cares so much for Kate and wants to protect her. It’s hard not to like him.

If this book was part of a series, would you read the next book?
It is part of a series and I will definitely read the next one. I can’t wait, actually.

Was this a book you were asked to review or did you buy it?
I received the second book in the series, Demons (Seers #2), for review and I hate reading books in a series out of order. SO I figured I should read this one first. Glad I did. I am pretty sure I wouldn’t have really understood the second book, although I have not read it yet. But that’s just the feeling I get. I’ll let you know!

Have you written a book yourself or are you planning to in the future? I have not written a book. I’m not much of a writer, to be honest (even though my first major in college was English). I’m great at non-fiction type of stuff. But that’s not what I would want to write if I did choose to write. I don’t have any plans to do anything in the future. I am helping a few friends with their writing. You never know what’s going to happen, tho!

What genre is your favorite and why? I love the young adult genre, specifically things paranormal. I think I like this genre because it’s not as involved as some adult novels. I can sit back, relax and just jump into the worlds and not have to worry about keeping so many things straight in my head. I work and I’m a mom to three little kids, I don’t have time to “think” about what I’m reading. I just want to read it and be brought to another place to enjoy myself. Does that make sense?

If you were shipwrecked on a desert island what 3 books would you want with you?
Oh, this one is hard! Hmmm…I would say these: Obsidian (Lux #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout (because I can NEVER get enough of Daemon), Shatter Me (Shatter Me #1) by Tahereh Mafi (because this book just rocked my socks), and Lacrimosa (Requiem #1) by Christine Fonseca (because Christine is just such a poetic, lyrical writer, I get lost in her stuff

Is there an Author that you would really like to meet?
In person, Chrsitine Fonseca. I am friendly with her and we chat in emails, over Facebook and on Goodreads, but I would love to sit down and have lunch with her. She’s just totally awesome sauce!

Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover?
All of the above. I just love books. I have a ton of digital books (probably about 1000). But, there is NOTHING like a physical book. I love to hold them and smell them. I love hardcovers just for their heaviness and feel in your hands. Plus, they tend to maintain their shape whereas paperbacks, well, once you break the spine I feel like they are ruined. However, I won’t exclude buying a book because it only comes in paperback if it’s something I really want. A good example are Jennifer L. Armentrout’s books. They only come in paperback, and I NEEDED them on my shelf, so there they are, in all their paperback glory!

Where do you prefer to buy your books?
Amazon, because I am a Prime member and shipping is free. But, I do love to take myself to Barnes and Noble once in a while. And there’s this store in New York City called Books of Wonder, one of those independent stores, that I just LOVE.

Have you ever read a book more than once?
Besides children’s books??? LOL! The only one I know I have read more than once is Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton. I did my Junior college thesis on this book, so it’s something I had to read a few times to make sure I had it all down ;)

Is there a particular movie or TV series that you preferred over the book version? Not that I can think of. I do love the Harry Potter movies. I think they did a great job with them considering how much material they had to condense into a little two hour movie. But I never prefer movies over books.

What book are you currently reading and in what format (ebook/paperback/hardcover)?
I read more than one book at a time! So here’s what is on my plate now:

Demons (Seers #2) by Heather Frost – ebook Resistance (Saga of the Setti #2) by Stephanie Judice (beat reading for this so it’s a word doc) Here by Ella James - ebook What book are you about to start reading? Do I really need to add more? LOL! I will be receiving Cursed by Jennifer L. Armentrout (due to relase September 18th) in the mail this week (I won a contest and got to choose a book so the blogger pre-ordered from Amazon for me, which means it might be here the day before because they are KNOWN to do that! EEK!).

What book do you know that you will never read? The sequel to J.M. Darhower’s Sempre (Forever). Try as I might have, I could not like this book at all (despite all my friends telling me how great it was). Also, the sequels to Rippler (Ripple #1) by Cindy Swanson. It has such potential, but the writing, well, it’s just not there. If you want to know my reasons, feel free to look at my reviews on Goodreads.

Are there any new Authors that have grasped your interest recently and why? Heather McCorkle. I received a book of hers for review and I immediately loved the writing and the theme. It was historical fantasy, not my usual, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was sort of like a prequel to the rest of her Channeler series, so I really want to read those. Also, Julie Reece. She wrote Crux. What an AMAZING book. She can write!!!

Have you read a book that you would like to rewrite the ending of? The ending of Forever (Shiver #3), Mockingjay (The Hunger Games #3) and Bloodrose (Nightshade #3). For Forever, I just felt like it was incomplete. Left open to so much open to interpretation and I know the Steifvater has no intention of writing anything else for it (I am meeting her on September 19th, so perhaps I will have to pick her brain about it). For Mockingjay, I just feel it was rushed. For Bloodrose, only because I lost a character I really loved so much. But I do know that Cremer could not have ended it any other way, so I kind of accept that one, even though it made me want to throw my Kindle across the room! LOL!

What are your thoughts on book trailers?
Some I like, some I don’t. They really need to be done well to capture the feeling of the book. I don’tthink they are necessary, though. At least not for me. I barely read the blurb of a book because I don’t want to ruin anything for myself and like to go into books without preconceived ideas.

Do you have a favorite book cover?
Chose up to 3 if you like. OMGosh I’m sitting here trying to pick only three and it is SO hard!!!! ACK! Hmm….let’s see:

1. Transcend by Christine Fonseca, it’s just hauntingly beautiful

2. Crux by Julie Reece, the art is just amazing, plus I read one of her blogs where she showed how the designer created it, so that just made me love it more

3.Clockwork Princess (Infernal Devices #3) by Cassandra Clare

I could list SO many more! I am such a sucker for a beautiful cover!

Okay, We all Know What's Up in the Next Section Right?

Do you ever blog in your PJ’s? Absolutely. Isn’t that a requirement of any blogger?

Sleep in or get up early? Get up early. I am an early bird. I can get so much done in the first few hours of the morning!

Pet peeves? Poor grammar, people who leave their blinker on, people who smack their gum.

What do you want Santa to bring you? Don’t laugh, a Jacob Barbie Doll ala Breaking Dawn Part I. LOL! When I took this out of my stocking I fell over laughing. My husband is such a smart ass and he knows I’m a huge Jacob fan, so there you go! LOL! I wonder if I’ll get Emmet this year, because I love him, too!

If you could plan the perfect holiday, what would it be? One where I don’t do any of the work and just sit around and watch others scurry! We do Christmas at my house every year, because it’s my oldest’s birthday. While I love not having to leave the house to travel on that day, I really do think that I would be so much more relaxed if I didn’t have 30 people in my house. Honestly, my perfect holiday would be to go away somewhere. One year, we went to Disney for Mother’s Day and that was just the best. Everyone catering to me and I was in my favorite place on Earth (this holiday is very hard for me for reasons I won’t get into here).

How often do you blog? I put up at least one blog a day. I do interviews on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The other days are usually reserved for blog tours, cover reveals

How many books do you read in a month - roughly? 6-10 depending on how busy I am and how much I like the books.

Favorite color? BLUE! (A popular choice this week) :D

What are 5 items you never leave home without.

1. Wallet

2. cell phone

3. keys

4. some kind of lipgloss/lipstick/chapstick product

5. tissues

6. hand cream/sanitizer

Oops, that’s 6…bad me! LOL!

What is your most favorite electronic gadget? My iPhone

Favorite book character or film character crush. Yes you can pick 2 :)

1. Daemon from Jennifer’s L. Armentrout’s Lux series

2. Will Herondale from Cassandra Clare’s Infernal Devices series

A character you love to hate in what book/TV show or movie. I love to hate Warner from Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me series. He’s cocky and creepy, but I am drawn to him for some unknown reason. It bugs me, but I think she did that on purpose! LOL!

Cats or dogs? Both, I love all animals!

White wine or red? It depends on what I’m eating and my mood!

What is a movie or TV show that you watched recently and really enjoyed? I watched Thor not too long ago. I am a big fan of action movies such as this (anything Avengers, Terminator, Transformers).

What scares you? Something terrible happening to my kids.

Where can we STALK you? Oooo…stalkers, YAY!
